Mr. Gurdip Singh Gujral is honoured with the Honorary Degree of the Doctor of Philosophy by World Sikh University London
The University Celebrates its 7th Graduation Ceremony
World Sikh University London conferred upon Mr. Gurdip Singh Gujral the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for his untiring Community and Social work done in the last 40 years of his stay in London
The University celebrated its 7th Graduation Ceremony with great pomp and show. In total 23 students were honoured. Three were awarded Ph.D. in Sikhism, Eight were awarded M.A. degrees in ‘Comparative Studies in World Religions: Specialising in Sikh Religion’, and a further twelve were awarded Certificates in specially run short courses in the Sikh Philosophy.
Mrs. Havinder Kaur Hara and Priya Panesar topped the list of the M.A. students. The second place went to Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Virdee.
The procession of the new graduates was led by Academic Registrar Dr. M. Amdekar followed by Senate Members: Gurdip Singh Gujral CBE, Harbans Singh Sethi, Ranjit Singh., Sewak Dansangani, Dr. B.D. Maudgil, Dr. Rami Ranger and Avtar Singh Bajaj
Vice Chancellor Dr. S.S. Kapoor and Academic Registrar Dr. Amdekar read the reports on the successful functioning of the University.
It was announced that the University will the starting the following new courses from January 2006:
1. CIMA – Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
2. Degree/Diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality and Tourism
3. Courses in Care (NVQs)
4. Degree in Animation
The members of the University Directorate Dr. Gurdeep Singh Gujral CBE, Mr. H. S. Sethi and Dr. Rami Ranger praised the role played by the University amongst the Sikh youth.
The degrees were presented by His Excellency, the Deputy High Commissioner for India. and the Mayor of Ealing and Harrow. They all praised the efforts of students, professors and the management for making University a world wide name. They further said that he was very proud to be here, to present degrees to the new graduates.
